The Tophic State Index (TSI) is used to describe water quality. It is a calculated metric, published by the WI DNR and takes into account different variables. Secchi disk light penetration for Clarity, Phosphorous, Chloropyll and sometimes Nitrogen are used to calculate Mohawksin’s TSI. Lake Mohawksin is considered a “Eutrophic” lake based on the readings taken at a consistent location. The graphic below defines how these labels are assigned. Eutrophic lakes are fertile lakes with a good balance of plant and animal life and good water quality.
